Whenever a flooring coating contractor installs a resinous flooring system, there are details that are constant when done properly. What does keying the perimeter involve and why is it important? Of course, before we did anything, we masked the edges so that the finished floor would have beautiful, clean lines.

This was in addition to removing any loose particles after the shotblasting preparation. This product cures very quickly, making experience a must. We required a five-man team to install this system without any ridges or cold joints between mixes.

Once we completed our commercial kitchen repairs or detailing, we then applied our primer to ensure the slurry would have an even liquid content and tenacious bond.

This image depicts what the urethane cement slurry with a full broadcast should look like. We achieved this even “subfloor” by applying the slurry or pancake-like formulation with a gauge rake that controls the thickness and backrolling with a porcipine roller to eliminate any trapping of air to ensure we had a solid base and eliminating any concerns for future commercial kitchen flooring repairs.

We control the finished texture by broadcasting a specific coarseness of aggregate. This was determined after discussions with our client, after learning how their specific process works.

Collaborating with the customer is critical to achieve the ultimate finished results that our clients have come to expect. What happens after the slurry cures during the flooring process? Once the slurry cures, we then remove any excess aggregate and are ready for our chemical resistant topcoat that will deliver on scratch resistance and minimize staining over time.
